Background:
Rob Gross, of Spring Grove, Minnesota, has been fishing the
Mississippi River for over 30 years. He literally was raised in the
backwaters of Pool 9. Rob (aka Yattering Jack) runs a local
not-for-profit youth fishing program in SE Minnesota called The Fishing Tree. He tries not only to educate children
(young & not so young) on fishing, species, habitat, lure selection
and techniques, but also tries to equip them with proper gear to
start them off right. He dedicates much of his free time towards
this venture. Rob is a heavy advocate of the 'Take a Kid Fishing'
approach in hopes of building a new generation of angler and
ensuring a strong love for fishing in the Midwest. Rob runs The Fishing Tree
Bass Guide Service on the Mississippi River Pools 8 & 9 and The Fishing Tree
Trout Guide Service on numerous streams in SE Minnesota and NE
Iowa with all profits above expenses going to support local youth
fishing. Rob also designs bass lures and is currently working toward
the production of a new line of frog lures.
