'Go To' Presentations
(third in a series)

by Bill Mathis

I recently asked all Classic Bass Pro Staff Members and Field Staff Members if they had to use one presentation all day long, what would it be.
This is part 3 in the series, featuring Classic Bass Field Staff Members,
Travis Peterson, Chris Chinn and Mitch Schade.

I asked Travis, Chris and Mitch: If you had to use one bait all day long, what would be your 'go to' bait?

Travis and Chris will talk about two different Northland Fishing Tackle products,
while Mitch likes a bait we all know as the Senko.

Travis Peterson tells us, “If limited to just one bait, it would definitely be a soft stick bait, specifically a Slurpies Dip-Stick. Hard baits and flipping jigs catch fish when the conditions are right but I can always catch some bass on soft plastics; especially scent enhanced varieties like the Slurpies products.

I like a green pumpkin Dip-Stick best. While soft stick baits are typically rigged weightless, I would rig it on a 1/8-ounce Northland Jungle Jig-Loc, a unique jig that allows for a weedless presentation with soft plastics. Rigged this way, I can cast it in all depths and fish it through any cover.”

Chris Chinn adds, “One of my go to baits is a Northland Mimic Minnow and the color is bluegill.

I really like this bait because it is smaller than most spinnerbaits and it is very versatile.
It can be fished like a spinnerbait, it can be jigged or jerked.
I also like to use it because I can fish it fast or slow, at any level in the water column, and still cover water.”

Mitch Schade wraps this series up, “If there was one lure that I had to use all day long it would be a Gary Yamamoto Senko. It works great slow or deep and it will catch fish anytime of the year.

I like to fish them wacky style in the shallows or on a Tru Tungsten 1/8 oz jig head along deep weed lines.
It is also a great bait when a cold front comes through.”

We will be finding out the 'go to' lure choices of more Classic Bass Staff Members,
including Pro Staffer, Scott Bonnema.
