Anglers Find The Zone
New fishing book authored by
Roseville, MN psychologist
|
Jay McNamara, Ph.D. LP is making a
career out of something most of us would pay to do. He has been
putting psychological principles and fishing techniques together for
over three decades. As a multi-species tournament angler, he has
competed successfully at both local and national levels. “I love
fishing for both bass, and of course, walleye,” the Minnesota native
said. “And having the opportunity to help others pursue their
passion successfully makes it all the more rewarding.”
McNamara is offering a new book The Psychology of Exceptional
Fishing in April 2007. A Licensed Psychologist with more than 30
years experience, and co-host of the weekly Bass Edge
television show on the VERSUS Network, he is giving anglers a
new edge!
“More recently, competitive anglers have begun talking openly about
the mental or psychological side of fishing,” he stated. “With
today’s field of highly skilled fishermen, no longer can you rely
solely on fundamentals or a secret spot or bait.”
His book outlines proven techniques in an easy to follow format for
becoming a more comprehensive fisherman. Anglers are taken step by
step through the process of identifying current priorities and
commitments in the first chapters, to managing their time on the
water, improving confidence, and dealing with co-anglers and
sponsors in later chapters.
With each turning of the page, fishing enthusiasts are captivated by
an introduction to age-old techniques utilized in numerous other
sports. “Jack Nicklaus is famous for popularizing the practice of
visualization in golf. Professional basketball, baseball, and
football players frequently comment on the importance of
concentration, confidence, and mental preparation. And it is common
knowledge that Olympic athletes from around the world have relied on
sport psychology principles for decades to achieve peak performance”
McNamara tells readers.
In addition to bolstering anglers mental approach through his new
book, Jay is also making waves of another sort. As host of “In The
Zone”, a sub segment of the popular Bass Edge television show
on the VERSUS Network, Jay is able to share techniques taken
directly from his book.
“Having personally worked with Jay for over three years now, it is
truly amazing the fishing industry has gone this long without
someone like him” stated Aaron Martin, host of Bass Edge.
The Psychology of Exceptional Fishing is a new catalyst for
consistently achieving effective results regardless of an angler’s
experience or current skill level.”
Jay’s vision for what the sport needs has already paid off as the
publisher reports pre-selling numerous copies of the book prior to
completion of printing the first edition. To learn more about Dr.
