Champions Tour- Gull Lake Preview

The Classic Bass Champions Tour is back in action on beautiful Gull Lake this Friday, July 13th. The tournament is set to go out of the Quarterdeck Resort on the west side of the Lake. Two weeks ago, the Champions Tour hosted an open event which showed off the great numbers of largemouth bass that swim in the Gull Lake Chain.

Bass can and will be caught in a wide variety of ways. This is an ideal setup for the Champions Tour format. We should see tons of fish catches and high weights when it’s all said and done. With the warm weather as of late, fish are certainly in their Summer patterns. The many mid lake structures on Gull will give up a good number of fish. Never rule out dock fishing either, as this technique has played a major role in the previous two Champions Tour events on Gull.

In the 2017 Classic Bass Champions Tour event on Gull, we watched Tadd Johnson lean on a huge morning session to carry him to the victory. Will Pappa, Andy Walls, Shane Raveling and Brad Leifermann all posted high finishes as well and all of these anglers will be competing this week.

The weather is shaping up perfectly for a day of serious fish catching. The Champions Tour has proven that a fast start is extremely important to an angler’s overall success. Friday morning is calling for fairly calm conditions and overcast skies, a great opportunity for the guys to load the boat early and often. As always, anglers will be forced to fish a certainly half of the lake in the first half and then flip flop in the second half. An awesome twist that always makes for an interesting derby.

As we mentioned earlier, the tournament will be headquartered at beautiful Quarterdeck Resort for the 2nd year in a row. If you’re in the area on Friday, July 13th we highly recommend coming by the resort to take in the tournament activities, watch Live Scoring updates and enjoy Jake’s Beach Grill which is just feet away from the shores of Gull Lake. We will be posting photos, videos and other updates during the entire tournament at www.classicbass.com.
