Matt Peters Wins the 2020 Champions Tour Angler of the Year

Matt Peters is the first ever two-time Champions Tour Angler of the Year.  Peters who won the award during the 2018 season not only had one win during his 2020 season, but two, including the Championship.

To begin the season, Peters had a 12th place finish at Lake Vermilion, followed up by a commanding win on the Mississippi River and then wrapped up the regular season with an 18th place finish on Lake Pokegama.  Going into the Championship, Peter’s was in second place in the Angler of the Year standings behind Kyle Schutta by five points.

Peters began preparing for the 2020 Championship early this summer by fishing as many lakes surrounding Grand Rapids as he could.  So, it was not a coincidence to see a big grin on his face when Trout Lake was announced as the location for the Championship.

For his Angler of the Year win, Peters wins an all-expense paid trip to Islamorada, Florida to go on numerous fishing trips with Champions Tour owner Scott Bonnema and be hosted by his wife Nancy as well.
